Monday and Tuesday...
There has been too much arguing and mean behavior in third grade - please talk with your child about this. We talk everyday about being nice to each other. This is really important as feelings get hurt so easily and verbal scars really leave a mark. Thanks for your support.
Dear Parents/Guardians , October 25, 2010
Spelling…. The word list has been sent home – in pink. We will take a pretest on Tuesday and this weeks spelling test on THURSDAY.
Word a Day… WAD this week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. An extra credit word will be assigned for Thursday. It is your child’s choice…I know what I would choose!!
Reading…We continue with the new reading series. Last week we took a few days and really discussed the rules of group time – that seemed to help – today everyone ‘got started right away’. I had small group guided reading and each group started a new story. Students were also assigned vocabulary work – due on Wednesday. Vocabulary sentences will be due on Friday. BOOKIT! due on Friday. Students should be working on their Reading Counts goal. Their goal and achievements so far is marked at the bottom of the folder. This also counts toward their reading grade.
Math…We are working on Chapter 2, adding and subtracting 3 and 4 digit numbers…I am seeing improvements in subtraction with regrouping.
Grammar… This week we are working on prefixes and suffixes and writing a paragraph about. There has been an extra credit assignments offered - due on Thursday.

Just a suggestions...if you drive to pick up your child, think about picking your child up by the fence next to the elementary playground as opposed to the parking lot. The parking lot is crazy ans congested and this causes it to be a bit unsafe for young children.
