Dear Parents/Guardians , November 1, 2010

*No School on Wednesday, November 3, 2010.
*Don’t forget to turn in October BookIt!
*End of the 1st marking period – Friday. Soon we will schedule fall parent – teacher conferences – the days will be November 15th and 17th. If there is a day or time that works better for you let me know soon.
*Tomorrow your child (K-3) will come home with a fundraising packet. This fundraiser is needed for all the field trips and other activities that take place in the elementary. Thank you for your help with this.

Spelling…. The word list has been sent home – in pink. We will take a pretest on Tuesday and this weeks spelling test on Friday.

Word a Day… WAD this week on Monday and Tuesday.

Reading… Students will continue to work in small groups, read to self, work on writing, word work, listen to reading and read to someone. Students work on vocabulary work and sentences each week. Their NEW goal for Reading Counts is marked at the bottom of the folder. This also counts toward their reading grade. I have sent home November BookIt! calendars.

Math…We are working on Chapter 2, and will take the test on Thursday.

Grammar… This week we are working on capital letters and writing a paragraph

Social Studies/Science…
SS…We will continue with Map Skill and we have been working from Time for Kids.
SCI …We are doing more experiments - learning about matter. Last week the groups set up their on problem solving reflection experiment. WOW!! There was some great thinking going on in here.

Show and Tell… Boys may bring in show and tell on Friday.

UPCOMING EVENTS
November 24th will be the Elementary Science Fair. I will be sending home a list of expectations regarding the project. It is not too early to starting thinking about a project to do. We are on our 4th Science Weekly and there are many good ideas in there each week.
